Over 250 fed at our Senior Citizens Dinner

It was an early go at the turkey, as over 250 of our over 60's members and friends showed up on Saturday for what was probably the first Christmas dinner of this year. How good it was to see the minor hall yet again filled with our older members, tucking in to home-made vegetable soup, turkey and ham, and of course a bit of trifle or Christmas pudding.

Each year, there is the tradition of a bit of festive entertainment and this year proved there proved to be a treat in store coupled with one or two surprises. Starting off with a Highland Dance School based in Belfast, we got to see a number of traditional Scottish dances, including the well-known highland fling. Then the scottish flavour continued as pipes and drums entered the minor hall... Although I'm a bit less sure about what looked like their newest recruit!

Then followed a bit of Elvis, and Neil Diamond

No festive time would be complete without some carols, this year led again by our MC for the day, a still rather Scottish looking Pastor Irwin Rea, dueting with Naomi Walker, and then closing with the man in red with the white beard!

Thanks to everyone who came along, and particularly to all those who helped prepare, serve and clear up the food, and all those who took part in the entertainment.
