Abide 2016

After months of preparation and prayer, our women’s conference Abide 16 took place on Saturday 1 October. The venue was packed as women came from across Northern Ireland and from as far away as London to join together for a day of worship, study and fellowship.
This year we compressed the sessions into a shorter timeframe but we certainly didn’t reduce the quality or quantity of what was on offer. A morning and early evening session which included worship, drama and teaching with a choice of six different seminars in between meant a busy and full day – but there was no shortage of tea breaks and eats to keep delegates going.

A special mention must go to Betty’s band of hard-working men who gave up their Saturday to serve delicious food all day long.
Alongside the formal sessions, we had a Faith Mission bookshop, complete with gifts and music to purchase.  And ahead of the 500th anniversary of what many consider to be the beginning of the Reformation we marked the occasion by hosting a Reformation Room which celebrated the remarkable untold story of the Women of the Reformation.

Our keynote speaker for both the morning and evening session was Valerie Murphy who formerly directed Precepts Ministries N. Ireland.  Valerie’s beautiful, anointed ministry touched hearts with her very honest and practical messages about Wilderness Times. Looking at how the Children of Israel’s journey can sometimes mirror our own, she encouraged us find God’s plan for us in all things.

The times of worship were really wonderful with the inspiring Well Band leading us throughout the day and we enjoyed very different, but equally engaging dramas at both sessions. We are so very grateful to our Lord for His presence which was with us right from the first moments of our day abiding together with Him.
A lot of people put a huge amount of work into organising this one day so we want to say a big thank you to you all – you know who you are! And thanks to all our sisters in Christ who came along and made the day such a blessing.  We’ve had so much great feedback from you telling us how the Lord has used Abide to encourage, challenge and build you up in your most holy faith.  God willing, let’s do it all again at Abide 18!
We were so blessed and You are so worthy, Lord Jesus.
