Mission Trip to Poland 2016

The annual mission trip of the young adults went to Elblag, Poland this year and it was definitely one of the best mission trips that the Well has ever had. For one week, 26 young people gave up time, money and holidays to serve God.

After an early start, the team arrived in Elblag at about 3pm, and so spent most of Sunday evening resting and acclimatising for what would be a busy week. The main focus of the trip was a kid’s club, ran with the local Baptist church in Elblag. Every day we started at 9am and we taught the kids songs, told them stories about Jesus, all on top of a mad mix of games, dramas, quizzes, and life stories.

After the morning sessions we split into 6 different workshops which we ran with the kids, sports, games, dance and drama, music, arts and crafts and baking. The workshops had such a wide range of activities and required a lot of work before hand, but it was worth it to get a chance to interact and engage with the kids. It was so good to see many of the kids respond to the gospel and we trust and pray many of them will live a life following Jesus Christ.

In the afternoons, after the kid’s club had finished we had a wide range of activities. We bonded with the young people from the Polish church, we visited a local park, we helped paint part of the church and even visited an orphanage that some of the kids had come from. It was a very humbling experience. Also, four of the boys on the trip spent their afternoon helping a new member to the church, who had had a fire in her house by painting, cleaning and refitting a window. It was so amazing to see the joy in her face with only a very simple act of kindness.
