There was almost a full house for this year’s carol service held at the Tabernacle on Sunday 23 December. Friends and visitors from all over the province travelled to worship with us during what turned out to be a most anointed evening.
For the first time in 17 years the annual Christmas musical at the Metropolitan Tabernacle has been cancelled indefinitely. The decision to call off the highly popular event was reluctantly taken when our musical director, Norman Hobson, fell ill earlier this year and was not available during a key part of the preparation stage for the musical.
The annual Seniors Christmas Dinner took place on Saturday December 1st in the minor hall with over 250 Senior citizens in attendance. A wonderful four-course meal was enjoyed by all, followed by an entertaining and hilarious programme of Mr and Mrs involving some of the senior members.
Around £4,000 was raised at last Saturday’s annual Christmas sale and would you believe it, even Santa turned up despite the fact that it’s not yet December. Just as well too due to the many children present at the event with parents clearly hungry for a bargain or two.
