The Befrienders ministry began in October 1997 after a visit by Joni Eareckson Tada to our church. Terri Fairfowl, who today directs this special ministry, had been praying for two years for a work to enable disabled people to come to church. In October 1997 that prayer was answered and the vision became a reality.

The Befrienders Ministry is a body of Christians who have a desire to enable people who have a disability to enjoy fellowship within our church. The aim is to offer friendship, encouragement and empathy when needed; to share worship, praise, the Word of God and love of Christ equally with people who are disadvantaged by disability. Our purpose is to enable all disabled people to enjoy fellowship within our church. Another objective is to arrange transport to and from church activities where possible.

Every effort is made to provide the right carers for each individual need and because of this we have found that the faith of these people is considerably strengthened and they become “more than a conqueror through him who loved us“ Romans 8:37.
